What Is ABA Therapy?
Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) therapy is an evidence-based approach that focuses on helping individuals learn across a range of areas. It can be individualized to support the needs and learning style of each individual. Providing ABA therapy with children on the autism spectrum can involve teaching them the tools to express themselves, build independence, and connect with the world in ways that are meaningful to them.
ABA therapy has been well demonstrated to lead to meaningful change and goal achievement for autistic children. There are many areas that can be improved through the use of ABA therapy for children on the autism spectrum, including communication, language, play, social interactions, toileting, building tolerance for waiting, emotional regulation, and school readiness.
Within an ABA therapy program, a Registered Behaviour Analyst, who may also be a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA), will work closely with you to develop an ABA support plan that focuses on your child's individual strengths and needs and your family's priority goals.
Sam I Am Autism Services provides home-based and school-based ABA therapy for children on the autism spectrum in Cobourg, Port Hope, Newcastle, Bowmanville, Brighton, Trenton, and surrounding areas in Northumberland County, Ontario.
