Funding and Financial Support

There are several funding programs and financial supports available to families of autistic children in Ontario.

  • Ontario Autism Program (OAP)

    The Ontario Autism Program provides funding to families for services such as ABA therapy.

    Families must register through AccessOAP to receive funding and access services.

  • AccessOAP

    If you are not yet registered, AccessOAP is the entry point for the Ontario Autism Program.

  • Autism Ontario

    Autism Ontario offers programs, education, and support for families, including webinars, information sessions, and funding opportunities for seasonal programs.

  • Disability Tax Credit (DTC)

    Families may be eligible for a federal tax credit if they are supporting a child with a disability.

  • Child Disability Benefit (CDB)

    Families who qualify for both the Disability Tax Credit and the Canada Child Benefit may also receive additional monthly financial support.

  • Assistance for Children with Special Needs

    This Ontario program provides financial assistance to families supporting children with special needs.

  • Special Services at Home (SSAH)

    This program provides funding for respite care and skill-building activities.

  • Medical Expense Tax Credit

    Behaviour Analysts are recognized as authorized medical practitioners in Ontario, meaning some ABA-related services may qualify for medical expense claims.

Daily Living Skills

Some children may need additional support with everyday routines such as eating, sleeping, and self care.
